Football betting rules at Gursha Bet

These Gursha Bet football betting rules explain how football bets are normally checked and settled on the site. They cover prematch and live markets, the difference between 90 minutes and extra time, penalty shootouts, postponed events, odds changes, official corrections and selected player markets. This guide is intended for adult customers looking for football betting rules in Ethiopia before placing a bet.

Before confirming a wager, check the market name, the time period shown, the event status and any special wording in your bet slip. A market may refer to full time, qualification, a tournament winner or another outcome, and those terms can have different settlement rules. If a specific market rule differs from this general explanation, the conditions displayed for that market and the applicable Terms and Conditions take priority.

Standard settlement time: 90 minutes

For most football markets, the result is based on 90 minutes of play plus the referee’s added time or stoppage time. Added time is the additional time shown at the end of each half. It is not the same as extra time, which consists of two further periods played after a match is level when the competition requires a winner.

This is the usual basis for 90 minutes football betting and for common markets such as:

  • Match Result / 1X2: home win, draw or away win after regulation time and stoppage time.
  • Double Chance: two of those three full-time outcomes.
  • Total Goals: goals scored during the relevant 90-minute period, including added time.
  • Handicap: the stated handicap applied to the result at the end of regulation time.
  • Both Teams to Score: whether both sides score during the specified period.

Unless the market says otherwise, goals or incidents in extra time and a penalty shootout are excluded from these standard markets. Always confirm the time basis before submitting a football bet settlement.

When extra time counts

Extra time football betting applies only when the market rules expressly include that period or describe an outcome that requires a winner to be determined beyond 90 minutes. Wording may include “including extra time”, “to qualify”, “winner of tie”, “team to lift the trophy” or “outright winner”. The exact wording matters, so do not assume that a normal Match Result market has the same basis as a qualification market.

For example, a bet on Team A to qualify may be settled using extra time and a penalty shootout if the market rules say so. A bet on Team A to win under a standard 1X2 market will normally be settled after 90 minutes plus added time. Tournament and outright markets can have their own settlement point, which should be checked before betting.

How penalties are settled

A penalty awarded and scored during ordinary play is a match event. It can count towards goals or another market when the selected market includes that period. A penalty shootout is different: it takes place after extra time to decide which team advances or wins a competition tie.

  • Penalty during the match is not the same as a penalty shootout.
  • Shootout kicks usually do not count towards 90-minute total goals.
  • A shootout may determine a “to qualify”, trophy or outright winner market when the rules include it.

Consequently, penalty shootout betting rules depend on the market rather than on the fact that the event is a football match. Check whether the bet concerns the match score, the team that progresses or the final competition winner.

Cancelled, postponed and abandoned matches

A cancelled football match bet and postponed football match betting are handled according to the event and market rules in force at Gursha Bet. The applicable policy may specify a period for the fixture to start or finish, such as a stated number of hours, the next calendar day or the same competition round. The relevant compliance-approved rule should be checked rather than assumed.

Possible outcomes include the following:

  • If a match is cancelled before kick-off, affected bets may be declared void and the stake may be returned unless a specific rule provides another outcome.
  • If a match is postponed before it starts, the bet may remain open for the permitted rescheduling period or become void when that period expires.
  • If play begins but the match is abandoned, the market may be settled if its result was already unambiguously determined; otherwise, it may be void under the applicable conditions.
  • If a match is completed later, settlement may wait for the authorised completion period and official result.
  • If the date, teams or market details are incorrect, the event may be suspended, corrected or cancelled under the site rules.
  • If an official result changes after settlement, Gursha Bet may review the bet in line with its published Terms and Conditions.

These examples describe possible treatment, not a promise that every disputed event receives the same outcome. Review the event status and the relevant football betting settlement rules before contacting support.

Live football betting settlement

Live football betting rules recognise that the match is changing while a wager is being submitted. Prices can move quickly, a market can be suspended, and a bet may reach the system after an important event has occurred. A goal, red card, VAR review, penalty or dangerous attack may cause the displayed odds to change or the market to close temporarily.

A live bet can be accepted at the displayed price, offered at a revised price, held while event information is confirmed or rejected. Settlement is based on the accepted bet and the applicable market terms, not simply on the price seen before submission. For current event markets, visit Gursha Bet live and check the bet status after confirmation.

Odds changes and bet confirmation

A football odds change before acceptance does not mean that the original price has been locked. If odds move while a bet is being submitted, the system may show the new price for confirmation or reject the request. The wager becomes an accepted bet only after it is confirmed in the account or bet slip.

Read the selection, stake, odds, market period and event details before pressing the final confirmation button. This check is particularly important in live football, where a short delay can affect both the available price and the status of the market.

VAR, official data and result corrections

VAR can overturn a goal, change a penalty decision or affect a red-card record. For this reason, a market may be frozen while the official decision is being verified. A football bet settlement is based on the official event data and the rules of the relevant market, rather than on an early television image or an unofficial score.

If an authorised source later corrects a result, timing, player record or incident, Gursha Bet may review the settlement under its Terms and Conditions. Customers should keep their bet reference and contact support if the displayed outcome appears inconsistent with the published market rule.

Player, cards and corners markets

Cards, corners and player markets can use definitions that differ from Match Result or totals. A corner normally needs to be officially awarded and taken, while the treatment of a cancelled corner or a card shown to a substitute, coach or bench member depends on the specific market rules.

A player selection may be void when the player does not take part, but this is not an automatic rule for every market. Player-goal markets also commonly distinguish an own goal from a goal credited to the selected player. Because the details can vary, check the specific market rules before placing a bet.

Examples of football bet settlement

Scenario 1 — 1X2 after extra time: The score is 1–1 after 90 minutes and added time. Team A wins in extra time. A standard 1X2 selection on Team A is settled as a loss if that market is for 90 minutes only.

Scenario 2 — shootout and totals: The match is 0–0 after extra time and Team B wins the shootout. An Over 0.5 total-goals bet for 90 minutes is settled as a loss because shootout kicks are not match goals for that market.

Scenario 3 — event cancellation: A fixture is cancelled before kick-off. The affected selection may become a void bet with a refund stake if the applicable rules do not provide another treatment.

Scenario 4 — postponed fixture: A match is moved to a later date before play begins. The wager may remain valid if the rescheduled event falls within the permitted period; otherwise, the postponed football match betting selection may be cancelled.

Scenario 5 — live VAR review: A customer submits a live bet while a possible penalty is being checked. The request may wait for confirmation, be accepted at updated odds or become a rejected bet if the market was suspended before acceptance.

Scenario 6 — qualification market: Team C draws after 90 minutes, wins in extra time and then avoids a shootout. A “Team C to qualify” selection may win where the market includes extra time. If a shootout had been required, it could also count when the market rules include penalties.

Responsible football betting

Football betting should be entertainment, not a way to earn money or recover losses. Set a spending limit before playing, take breaks and never bet with money needed for daily expenses. If betting stops feeling enjoyable, use available limits, time-outs or self-exclusion tools and seek support. Learn more through Responsible Gaming and review the Age Restriction Policy. Betting services are for adults who meet the applicable age and legal requirements.
